1.Learn the basic keys.
Before you learn to pluck a guitar, you first need to know the basic keys in playing the guitar. Usually the guitar has 6 strings, starting from the strings that are the bottom to the top itself.
In addition, there are two types of guitars that are often played by many people, namely electric and acoustic guitars. Although both have almost similar tones, there are differences between the two types of guitar, one of which is in the tuning section.

– String 5 produces tone A
– String 6 produces the E note
2.Determine the position of the guitar that fits and is comfortable.
After getting to know the basic keys, you also need to know how to hold and play the guitar playing the guitar in the correct position. First, position the guitar that makes you feel comfortable holding it. As a beginner, you can lap the guitar, bring the guitar body close to the chest and stomach.
Make sure you choose a comfortable guitar position. The reason is, if you are not comfortable in a sitting position, then it can make you unfocused when learning how to play the guitar.
– Sit in a chair comfortably. Straighten your back and shoulders.

– Try to hold the position of holding this guitar every 5 minutes to get used to and balance themselves. In the beginning, your back and shoulders might hurt. But over time you will get used to it.
3.Learn how to tuning or adjusting guitar strings.
When you get a comfortable position, the next step is to adjust the guitar strings. The reason is if it is not set, the strings are usually not make a melodious sound. You need to learn to do tuning so that the guitar can produce melodious sound.
Learning how to tuning guitar strings is important because it can make your ears accustomed to hearing the right notes.
How to tune a guitar string:
– Know the names of strings. From the top (the thickest) to the bottom (the thinnest) the order is E, A, D, G, B, and E ‘.
– Adjust the tuner (rotation on the guitar head) according to your needs. If you want a high note, tighten your guitar strings. But if you want a low note, turn the tuner until the strings loosen properly.
4.Learn to strum the guitar.
Learn to strum the guitar you need to learn so that the tone that is played can sound beautiful and melodious. At this stage you need to use your 5 fingers.
Put your thumb on the top string to pluck the bass strings number 6, 5, or 4. Then the index finger is used for string number 3, middle finger number 2, and ring finger for string number 1. Do it slowly until you can pick it properly .
Each chord has its own way and produces a different tone. When you play key A, then you only need to press the bottom ADGBE strings. Of course for keys A, AM or B then the strings are pressed again.
5.Train the hand muscle memory.
When you first try to play the guitar, the fingers will feel very painful and harden at each fingertip. But it does not matter, keep practicing, eventually you will get used.
When playing the guitar, make sure you concentrate on each passage and the key. This is done so that you can memorize each key and focus on the tone produced.
6.Start by playing one song with easy keys.
So you don’t get bored with practicing, choose a song with a very easy chord or use a basic chord. If you have mastered one song, then for the next stage you will easily understand playing guitar.
7.Learn melody.
Here are 3 steps you can take when learning melody:
– Find out guitar melodies by reading tabulations. Tabulation is the process of placing a data in the form of a table whose contents are notes to facilitate you in learning the melody.
– Understand scale. This is a way to search for melodies in songs. If you already know about scale, you will easily guess the melody in the song. The most common and easily understood scale is the pentatonic scale.
– If you already know tabulation and scale, the last step in playing guitar for beginners is to learn to improvise. This method requires a good feeling, hearing, and a strong instinct in determining the tone. You can practice by listening to a song, then composing a note that matches the flow in one melody.
This stage is indeed more complicated than the previous step. The most important process in learning melody is feeling, skill, and improvisation in connecting note by note. So that way, you can create beautiful harmony.
8.Practicing regularly.
After you know everything well, the next step is to practice diligently. This method is quite important because if you do not continue to be sharpened, then your ability to play the guitar will not develop, you may forget what you have learned before.
